It's been a while since I've last posted. Life at the farm is going well! Everything is dry as can be, especially since we didn't have any spring showers. I'm struggling to keep our one pasture area green for the horses so they have something to munch on, but so far, it's been working out.
Ali planted an orchard and set up a drip watering system so he's been keeping busy. He planted 2 cherry trees, 2 apple trees, a pomogranite tree, and 3 different citrus trees. We also planted tomatoes with Kerri & Nick a few months ago, and those are flourishing.
Our upcoming projects are: more fencing!!!! When we stretched that last foot of fence wire, I told myself never again, putting the pasture fencing out of my mind. But now it's time to complete that project. The horses have too much freedom around the farm, and they're getting into things they shouldn't be; they seem to especially enjoy the buffet in the hay barn. Argh! So we're going to put up 2 pastures in the next month, and complete the 2 paddocks on the West side of our barn. We have 2 new horses moving in, so the projects need to be completed by then. So, we're hoping to gather work parties again with our family and friends. Luckily this time, it won't be nearly as much fencing as the whole perimeter of our farm!
After that, we're going to do a little more landscaping once the horses are confined to their pastures. We've chosen 2 trees for the front of the barn, and have other ideas for that area as well. I'll try to post pictures soon!
